Heavy rains likely as we start the work week; Flood watch in effect!


After having excellent weather for the weekend clouds have returned this morning. A warm front approaching the area will cause heavy showers and thunderstorms especially this afternoon and tonight, another 1 1/2 to 2 inches of rain is likely and with streams and rivers at high levels caused by the rain from the remnant of Andrea some flooding is likely. With clouds and rain high temperatures today will be mostly in the mid 70s.
The warm front will move through Tuesday morning and although there is a chance of more showers and thunderstorms the rain will not be as widespread as today, high temperatures tomorrow will rise into the 80s.
More sunshine and warm on Wednesday but we still have a risk of a shower.
Another disturbance on Thursday will give us another chance of even more rain.
Clearing on Friday and the weekend should be dry and seasonably warm. Good timing!!

Excellent weather to end the weekend; More rain again to start the work week!


After having a rather nice day yesterday today’s weather will even be better with more sunshine and temperatures reaching the low 80s.
More rain is in the forecast starting on Monday as a warm front will be moving into our area, this rain may be heavy at time into Monday night and we could pick up another inch of two of rainfall which would raise flooding concerns on some of our area’s streams and rivers.
More showers possible again Tuesday and Wednesday as a weak cold front move across.
Still another system could give us more rain on Thursday..
The good news is that high pressure will be building in for Friday that should give our area warm and dry weather through next weekend.

Marine forecast: Today variable winds this morning becoming southerly around 10 knots, seas 3 feet.
Outlook – Advisories may be needed Monday night into Tuesday for high seas, otherwise below advisory level conditions most of the upcoming week.

Andrea is gone setting the stage for a dry and warm weekend!


The remnants of Andrea is now just south of Long Island and is moving quickly out to sea. The total rainfall on my rain gauge in Clifton totaled 3.33″ for the storm, higher amounts were recorded down the shore where 5 inches fell in some spots.
Today will be much warmer with temperatures reaching the 80 degree mark and although there will be some sunshine there still will be lots of clouds around with only a very slight chance of an afternoon shower.
Sunday will be a couple of degrees warmer with more sunshine.
Showers and thunderstorms will return on Monday and Tuesday as a warm front followed by a cold front moves through our area..
Still a chance of a shower on Wednesday but Thursday and Friday should be rain free with seasonably warm temperatures.
Looking further ahead for next weekend at this point looks dry and warm but of course that can change.

Marine forecast: Small craft advisory in effect till late tonight. Today – West wind at 30 knots this morning becoming southwest up to 25 knots, seas up to 9 feet this morning and 7 feet this afternoon.
Outlook – Winds and seas are expected to be below advisory levels Sunday through Wednesday.

Heavy rain and flash flooding today as the remnants of Andrea move up the coast!


Moderate to heavy rain has moved into our area with nearly with nearly an inch of rain has fallen by 6:30am, rain rates may lessen later this morning before the main batch of rain from the remnants from Tropical Storm Andrea starts affecting our area with very heavy rain this afternoon and evening that will likely cause flash flooding in our area as we expect rain total of 2-4 inches with some high amounts possible. No strong winds and only some minor coastal flooding will occur with Andrea.
Most of the rain will be out of here by early Saturday morning but we still have a chance of showers on Saturday, however we will also see some sun and temperatures will rise to around 80.
More sunshine on Sunday with temperatures a little warmer.
More rain with thunderstorms likely on Monday into Tuesday.
Drier weather with near seasonable temperatures Wednesday and Thursday..

Mainly cloudy but dry Thursday; Heavy rain from Andrea’s remnants on Friday; Weekend weather looking better!


Clouds have moved into the Clifton area this morning and today will be a mostly cloudy day, temperatures will be on the cool side with the clouds and a light onshore wind.
Heavy rain late tonight into Friday night first from a low in the Midwest and then from the remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea that will be moving up the coast. Andrea will be more of a rain producer with 2-3 inches of rain likely however winds and coastal flooding will not be a problem
The good news is that Andrea will be a quick mover and most of the rain will be out of here by 8am Saturday morning setting us up for a rather nice weekend with seasonably warm temperatures and only a slight chance of a light shower on Saturday morning.
Shower chances increase again early next week along with seasonably mild temperatures.

Friday – Rain, heavy at times through Friday night, rain may be heavy at times, high near 70.

Monday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the upper 70s.
