Overnight low temperatures only fell to the mid 70s with mostly clear skies. Every day so far this July the temperature has failed to fall below 70 degrees and that has never happened before to start off July in the 40 years I have been keeping records. This streak should continue the next several days.
Today may be the hottest day of the heat wave with temperatures rising to the mid 90s with high humidity continuing, only a slight chance of a thunderstorm well inland.
Sunday may be a degree less hot with chances of afternoon and evening thunderstorms increasing.
Next week will remain humid with chances of thunderstorms each day, most high temperatures will be in the upper 80s to around 90. Nights will be warm and muggy with temperatures staying above that 70 degree mark.
Finally a refreshing cold front may finally cross the area on Friday bringing relief to the heat and humidity by next weekend.
