Much colder today and windy! Snow showers may whiten the ground Tuesday afternoon and evening!


Skies are mostly clear early this Monday morning and temperatures have fallen to the upper 20s here in Clifton to the low 20s in the colder inland areas, a brisk wind gusting above 20 mph is making it feel much colder.

Yesterday we had record high temperatures in the area along with 1.84″ of rainfall and we even had some hail in the afternoon with a brief heavy shower followed by a brilliant double rainbow.

Today will be much colder with readings only rising a couple of degrees from this morning’s lows and with gusty winds it will feel much colder.

On Tuesday a cold front will be crossing the area preceded by some snow showers in the afternoon and evening that may give us a light coating of snow in our area and up to 1-2 inches well inland.

Cold and dry Wednesday and Thursday with moderating temperatures expected on Friday.

The weekend weather will be unsettled as a couple of low pressure areas will be affecting our area giving us a chance of rain or snow.

MARINE FORECAST:   A gale warning is effect till noon today for west winds gusting to 40 knots, diminishing this afternoon, seas 6-9 feet subsiding this afternoon.

OUTLOOK – Gale watch in effect from noon on Tuesday till 6 a.m. on Wednesday.  Small craft advisories likely Wednesday into the day on Thursday, no advisories expected Thursday night into Friday.

Windswept rain today with record high temperatures likely! Much colder on Monday! Chance of snow showers Tuesday night!


We have moderate to heavy rain falling early this Sunday morning and it is quite mild with temperatures ranging from the mid 40s here in Clifton some upper  30s inland, winds are gusting from the east up to 25 mph.

Today will continue to have rain heaviest this morning, east winds will become southerly later today as a warm front moves through the area, temperatures should rise to 60 degrees or higher which would be a record for the date.  There is a slight chance of some thunder this morning, expect around an inch or two of rainfall.  A cold front will cross the area this afternoon bringing clearing and much cooler temperatures.

Monday will be a mostly sunny but breezy day with highs remaining in the 30s.

Slightly milder on Tuesday but another cold front is expected to produce some snow showers at night.

Dry weather the rest of the week, Wednesday will be windy, temperatures will be below normal Wednesday and Thursday rising to near normal on Friday.

A coastal storm is possible next weekend, too early for any details on how or if it will affect our area.

Cloudy and mild today with rain developing tonight! Rain with near record high temperatures on Sunday! Colder next week!


Skies are cloudy early on this Saturday morning and temperatures are on the mild side ranging from the upper 30s here in Clifton to the low 30s in some inland areas, winds are light.  The winter weather advisory that was issued yesterday was cancelled for much of the area for this morning as most temperatures are at or above freezing.

Today will be a cloudy and mild day, temperatures will reach well up into the 40s despite the cloud cover.

A low pressure system will move into the area tonight with light rain developing tonight becoming steady and heavier by Sunday morning with even a chance of a rumble of thunder, temperatures will approach record highs during the day on Sunday as we should hit close to the 60 degree mark.  A cold front will cross the area late in the day ending the rain and it will become much colder at night.

Monday will be a cold day with plenty of sunshine.

Slightly milder during the day on Tuesday but another cold front will cross the area at night with snow showers possible.

Snow showers may persist until Wednesday morning with quite cold and windy conditions.

Cold and dry weather is expected Thursday and Friday.

Skies are partly cloudy early this Friday morning and temperatures range from around 30 here in Clifton to some upper teens in some of the inland valleys, winds are light.

Today we will see an increase of clouds and there is a chance of drizzle by late this afternoon, temperatures will be slightly above normal.

An onshore flow along with a weak disturbance will cause mainly light drizzle on Saturday which may begin as a mixture of light snow or sleet inland, a winter weather advisory was issued for inland areas.  Temperatures will rise into the 40s by the afternoon.

A stronger disturbance will cause rain heavy at times on Sunday mostly falling in the morning, a strong southerly wind will boost temperatures well up into the 50s with some record highs possible.

Much colder weather to start the work week with the next chance of precipitation is on Wednesday with snow showers possible.

Dry and mild today and Friday! Light rain on Saturday with heavier rain and quite mild on Sunday! Colder next week!


Skies are mostly clear early on this Thursday morning and there is a big spread in temperatures with readings in the low 20s here in Clifton to some single digits in the colder valleys, winds are nearly calm.

I replaced the battery in my weather station’s outside sensor and now we are back online.

Today we should see an increase in clouds this afternoon, temperatures will be mild with highs slightly higher than yesterday and with light winds it will feel rather comfortable.

Friday will continue to be on the mild side but a weak disturbance will cause some light rain to develop after midnight which may start off as sleet or freezing rain well inland.

A chance of light rain will continue on Saturday with mild temperatures.

A stronger system will cause rain moderate to heavy at times Saturday night into Sunday, winds will become southerly with temperatures reaching the 50s before a cold front comes through late in the day.

Colder next week but not as frigid as we had early this week, at this time it will be mainly dry put there is an indication of a possible coastal storm around Wednesday to early if it will affect our weather but it will be cold enough for any precipitation to fall as snow.

WEATHER HISTORY:   Today is the 20th anniversary of the Blizzard of 1996,  the snow began around 9 a.m. on the 7th and continued very heavy into the morning of the 8th dumping over two feet of snow in the area.
