Skies are cloudy early on this Thursday morning and it is very warm and muggy with temperatures ranging from the upper 70s here in Clifton to the low 70s further inland, there are some scattered showers falling mainly over northern Sussex and Passaic counties.
Yesterday the dew point indicator at my station registered 82.8 degrees which is the highest dew point recorded since my station went on line in 2012.
A Bermuda high pressure ridge will be in control of our weather today through the weekend with heat and humidity continuing along with a chance of showers and thunderstorms each day, some of these showers may contain torrential downpours and with the slow movement of these storms could cause some flash flooding, however some areas may remain mainly dry. Today the temperature will reach 90 degrees and then be in the mid 90s Friday through Sunday and with dew points in the 70s the heat index may rise to above 105 degrees.
A front will move into the area early next week which will cause a slight lowering of the heat and humidity but a chance of showers will continue.
