Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning and it is again quite cold with temperatures ranging from the mid teens in Clifton to 7 at High Point, winds are from the northwest around 5-10 mph.

Arctic high pressure will continue to dominate our weather today and tomorrow with much below normal temperatures, skies will be partly to mostly sunny. There is a slight chance of flurries mainly inland both days, but most area will remain dry.

Slightly milder on Friday, there will be a slight chance of light snow in the afternoon and at night, but again most areas will remain dry.

Saturday will be a milder day along with mostly sunny skies.

A more significant low pressure will give us rain on Sunday, possibly starting off as a wintry mix well inland.

Dry weather for early next week, temperatures on Monday will be above normal but then cool to near normal temperatures on Tuesday.

Skies are mostly clear early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures are quite cold with readings ranging from the mid teens in Clifton down to 5 degrees further inland, winds are mainly calm.

Arctic high pressure will build into our area today giving us a mostly sunny day with high temperatures only reaching the freezing point.

Wednesday will be even colder with highs only in the 20s and the winds will be stronger bringing wind chills down to the single digits.

Another very cold day on Thursday with a chance of flurries, winds will be lighter.

Not as cold on Friday and a weak disturbance will give us a low chance of light snow Friday night.

Milder weather on Saturday and we should remain dry but low pressure will give us a good chance of rain on Sunday.

Skies are cloudy early on this Monday morning and temperatures range from the low 30s in Clifton down to the upper 20s further inland, winds are light. 7.5 inches of snow fell overnight.

The low pressure that gave us the heaviest snowfall of the season is moving offshore as high pressure builds into the area. We will see sunshine by later this morning and high temperatures will reach to near 40 degrees that will help melt some of the snow.

Unseasonably cold but dry weather Tuesday through Thursday as Arctic high pressure moves into our area. Wednesday will be the coldest day with highs only in the 20s and will drop down to around 10 degrees at night.

Not as cold on Friday with only a slight chance of rain or snow.

Milder for the upcoming weekend, Saturday will be dry but there is a chance of rain or snow on Sunday as a low pressure moves toward our area.

Low pressure will be moving up the coast and then out to sea south of Long Island tomorrow morning. Precipitation will start off as light rain mainly after 4 p.m. but change to snow by early this evening and continue heavy at times before ending by 4 a.m. tomorrow morning, snow accumulations of 4-8 inches are likely and a winter storm warning is in effect.

We should see clearing skies by Monday afternoon and it will be seasonably cold.

Much below normal temperatures Tuesday through Thursday and we should remain dry except for possibly some snow flurries on Wednesday.

Slightly milder by Friday and another low pressure will give us a chance of rain or snow Friday night into Saturday.

Snow is falling moderately early on this Saturday morning and temperatures range from around 30 in Clifton down to the mid 20s further inland, winds are light northerly. Snow accumulation since midnight is around 3 inches.

Low pressure will move offshore today and the snow should end by 8-9 a.m. with another inch of snow likely. Some sunshine this afternoon along with highs near 40 will help melt some of the snowfall before our next storm.

Sunday will be cloudy with a chance of light rain in the afternoon changing to snow at night as a stronger low pressure moves off the coast. A winter storm watch is in effect for possible accumulations of 4-8 inches. the snow should end by daybreak on Monday.

Cold Arctic air will be with us from Monday night through at least Thursday with temperatures well below normal for early March, we should stay dry except for a chance of flurries on Wednesday.

Another low pressure system will give us a chance of rain or snow on Friday.

FEBRUARY 2019 CLIFTON CLIMATE SUMMARY:

Average temperature was 34.3 degrees which was 1.5 degrees above normal; Highest temperature was 67 degrees set on the 5th, lowest temperature was 6 degrees on the 1st. Precipitation totaled 3.01 inches which is near normal. Snowfall was below normal with only 4.6 inches accumulating.

METEOROLOGICAL WINTER – DECEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY

Temperatures were slightly above normal. Precipitation totaled 14.79 inches which was above normal. Snowfall was well below normal with 8.5 inches accumulating. Looks like we will pass that snowfall amount in the first 3 days of March.
