Colder and windy today with clearing skies! Bitterly cold and quite windy on Friday! Still very cold on Saturday with diminishing winds! Chance of a significant winter storm Sunday evening through Tuesday morning!

Good morning!

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Thursday morning and temperatures range from the upper 20s in Clifton down to the upper teens further inland, winds are a little gusty out of the northwest.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR JANUARY 28TH:

AVERAGE HIGH: 37 AVERAGE LOW: 22

RECORD HIGH: 61 – 2002 RECORD LOW: -1 – 2005

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 38 LOW: 28 RECIPITATION: .01″ SNOWFALL: 0.2″

A strong storm well offshore will combine with high pressure to our west to give our area a brisk northwest flow of cold air. Winds will gust to 30 mph which will make it feel colder. Skies will be mostly cloudy this morning with clearing this afternoon.

The coldest air of this winter season will be with us Friday into Saturday. On Friday high temperatures will only be in the low to mid 20s and with winds gusting to 35 mph will drop wind chill values to below zero. Saturday will still be very cold but with diminishing winds.

A good chance of a significant winter storm Sunday evening into early Tuesday morning as a complex low pressure moves into the area. Still a question on the track and intensity of the storm and if any warm air will change any snow to rain along coastal areas.
