Good morning everyone!
Skies are clear early on this Wednesday morning and there is a wide range in temperatures at 5 a.m., with readings ranging from a mild 62 in Clifton down to a cool 42 at Walpack, winds are light from the west.
CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR MAY 19TH:
AVERAGE HIGH: 72 AVERAGE LOW: 53
RECORD HIGH: 93 – 2017 RECORD LOW: 34 – 2002
YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 84 LOW: 55 PRECIPITATION: NONE
Note: Although my record high since 1973 is 93 set in 2017, back on this date in 1962 Central Park had the highest May temperature on record with a sultry 99 degrees. I remember playing outside at a friend’s house and then I came home and took a nice cool bath.
Today will be sunny and very warm to hot with high temperatures well up into the 80s and a 90 degree reading is possible. However the humidity will stay on the low side with dew points mainly in the 40s.
A back door cold front will cross the area on Thursday and with an onshore flow it will not be as warm Thursday and Friday, however it will continue to be dry.
Warmer again over the weekend but a couple of weak disturbances will give us a slight chance of an afternoon shower both days but the chance of rain is only 20%.
A stronger cold front will cross the area on Monday bringing in cooler weather for early next week.
