Ex-tropical storm Fred caused heavy rain early yesterday morning with even a weak tornado reported in Rockaway in Morris County.
Today a weak front will be just offshore and will cause mostly cloudy skies today with a chance of an afternoon and evening shower.
Unsettled weather for the weekend as there will still be a upper level trough in our area along with approach of Tropical Storm Henri. At this time Henri is expected to come close to our area but remain just offshore and move into eastern Long Island or southeast New England as a hurricane. Showers and thunderstorms are likely both Saturday and Sunday and rain could be heavy at times. At this time wind will not be an issue in our area. Our coastal waters will likely have high waves and a high chance of dangerous rip currents both days.
Still a chance of showers on Monday but Tuesday and Wednesday should be dry and quite warm.
A front approaching from the west may give us a shower on Thursday but it will continue to be quite warm.
