There is a break in the heavy rain and at 5 a.m. skies are just cloudy. Temperatures range from 73 degrees in Clifton down to 69 at High Point. Winds are light from the north-northeast.

Rainfall so far has totaled 2.89″ with the majority of rain falling between 9:30 p.m. last night till 12:30 a.m. this morning.
Hurricane Henri is approaching the coast of eastern Long Island and will move slowly north-northwest with top winds of 75 mph. After a break in the rain early this morning, heavy rain with this system will move back into our area mainly after 9 a.m. and continue most of the day into tonight. Additional 3-6 inches of rainfall is possible. Winds should not be much of an issue but some gusts to 35 mph can be expected with higher winds to our north and east.
Lingering tropical moisture will be with us on Monday with showers that may still be heavy at times. A flood watch continues in effect until Monday night.
A heatwave is expected Tuesday through Thursday with temperatures in the 90s and dew points near 70.
A cold front may cause some showers Thursday and Friday followed by cooler and dry weather for the start of next weekend.

TONIGHT – Showers heavy at times with a chance of a thunderstorm, muggy, low near 70. Flood watch in effect.
MONDAY – AUG 23 – Mostly cloudy with showers likely with a chance of a thunderstorm, rain may be heavy at times, humid, high in the mid 80s. Flood watch continued into Monday night.
TUESDAY – AUG 24 – Sunny, hot and humid, high in the low 90s.
WEDNESDAY – AUG 25 – Sunny, hot and humid, high in the low 90s.
THURSDAY – AUG 26 – Partly sunny, hot and humid with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower, high in the low 90s.
FRIDAY – AUG 27 – Partly sunny with a chance of an afternoon or evening shower, high in the upper 80s.
SATURDAY – AUG 28 – Partly sunny, cooler and less humid, high in the low 80s.
MARINE FORECAST: A tropical storm warning is in effect. Winds southwest to 45 knots, seas 7-10 feet. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 76 degrees.
OUTLOOK – Small craft advisory expected for high seas on Monday; no advisories expected Tuesday through Thursday.
