Since I started records in 1973 today January 21st has the coldest average temperature of the year with highs averaging 32.8 degrees and the average low is 17.7 degrees.

Today will be another above normal day as this January is on pace to be one of the warmest on record. High pressure will build from the west and we will see a mix of clouds and sun with highs mainly in the mid 40s. Winds will be lighter than yesterday.

A storm system now over the Mississippi Valley will move toward our area on Sunday with rain developing late in the afternoon and continue through Monday morning. Some of the precipitation will start off as a wintry mix well inland.

Dry weather is expected from late Monday morning through the day on Tuesday, temperatures will continue to average above normal.

Another storm system will give us mainly rain from late Wednesday morning through Wednesday night, again the precipitation may start off as a wintery mix mainly inland.

Dry weather with temperatures still slightly above normal Thursday and Friday.

Last night we had a couple of rumbles of thunder and was the first January thunderstorm since 2015.

The storm that gave us the rain yesterday is moving off the New England coast as high pressure builds in from the west. Today will be a partly sunny and breezy day, high will be near 50 but winds gusting to 25-30 mph will make it feel a little colder.

Dry on Saturday as high pressure builds into our area, highs will be a little lower but with less wind.

Another low pressure system will give us rain from Sunday afternoon through late Monday, the rain may begin as a mixture of snow well inland.

Dry on Tuesday with seasonably mild temperatures.

Still another storm is expected to give us mainly rain Wednesday into early Thursday morning.

A storm system now over the Ohio Valley will move towards our area and will cause rain to develop by 9 a.m. and continue through tonight and ending around midnight. With the clouds and precipitation, highs will be lower than yesterday but there will be much less wind. Rainfall amounts will be around 1 inch.

Friday will remain mostly cloudy but we should remain dry with highs in the 40s.

After a dry Saturday another storm system will give us a good chance of rain Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

Still another storm will give us mainly rain Tuesday night into Wednesday but may start off as snow mainly further inland.

After the storm passes we should have colder weather by late next week.

We should see an increase in clouds today as a weak frontal system moves into our area which may cause some very light rain this afternoon. Temperatures will still be mild but with the clouds the highs will be a few degrees cooler than yesterday. Rainfall amounts will be mainly less than a tenth of an inch.

High pressure builds in for Wednesday and we will have a pleasantly mild day with mostly sunny skies and highs in the low 50s.

A stronger system is expected to give us rain Thursday into Thursday night, highs will be in the 40s.

High pressure will then build into our area and we should have dry conditions Friday through most of the weekend along with continued above normal temperatures.
