Skies are cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are mild with readings ranging from 71 in Clifton down to 66 at High Point. Winds are calm or light southerly. The air quality is good with an index of 28.

A cold front will cross the area this morning accompanied by showers followed by northwest flow of drier air. Dew points near 70 today will fall to the 50s by tonight. Skies will become mostly sunny this afternoon.

High pressure will build into the area from the Great Lakes giving us very pleasant temperatures and humidity Thursday and Friday.

High pressure will continue to dominate our weather for the holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine each day. Highs on Saturday will be near normal and then be well above normal for Sunday and on Labor Day.

Much of next week will be dry and very warm to hot.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy, lows in the low 60s.

THURSDAY – AUG 31 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 70s.

FRIDAY – SEP 1 – Sunny, highs in the upper 70s.

SATURDAY – SEP 2 – Sunny, highs near 80.

SUNDAY – SEP 3 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 80s.

LABOR DAY – SEP 4 – Sunny, highs in the low 90s.

TUESDAY – SEP 5 – Sunny, highs in the low 90s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday evening for northwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 3-6 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 73 degrees. High surf and a high risk of rip currents due to Hurricane Franklin that is well off our coast.

OUTLOOK: Advisories still likely for Friday; advisories possible for Saturday; no advisories expected for Sunday.
