High heat and humidity again today with mostly sunny skies! Heatwave continues on Thursday with a little more clouds! Not as hot on Friday but with continued high humidity and a chance of showers! Humid with showers likely over the weekend!

Good morning everyone!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Wednesday morning and once again it is quite warm and muggy with temperatures ranging from 74 in Clifton down to 63 at Sandyston. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is moderate with an index of 71.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR SEPTEMBER 6TH:

AVERAGE HIGH: 78 AVERAGE LOW: 60

RECORD HIGH: 96 – 2018 RECORD LOW: 44 – 1988

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 93 LOW: 73 PRECIPITATION: NONE

NOTE: On this day 44 years ago in 1979 Hurricane David caused high winds and power outages in our area. My dad’s cherry tree didn’t survive this storm!

High pressure ridge over us will give us another very hot day with high humidity; we should see less clouds than the last couple of days. Highs will reach the mid 90s and with dew points around 70 will cause heat indexes to rise to near 100 degrees. A heat advisory remains in effect.

Still very hot and humid on Thursday but there may be a little more clouds in the afternoon.

A slow moving frontal system will move into our area on Friday and be in our area over the weekend. There will be a chance of showers on Friday, temperatures will be a little lower but the humidity will remain high. Humid weather will continue on the weekend but with plenty of clouds high temperatures will be lower. Showers will be likely with Saturday may be the wettest day of the weekend.

Showers may persist into Monday followed by drier weather for Tuesday.

Meanwhile Tropical Storm Lee is expected to become a powerful hurricane, as of now the path keeps the storm offshore but high swells and dangerous rip currents should develop by the end of next week.
