Sunny and warm again today but with widespread haze! Warm and hazy again Tuesday and Wednesday! Not as warm on Thursday but staying dry! Showers likely Friday afternoon through Saturday! Clearing and much cooler on Sunday!

Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning but there is some fog over the inland valleys. Temperatures are quite mild with readings ranging from 64 in Clifton down to 51 at Sandyston. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is moderate with an index of 54.

Today will be another warm day as a strong high pressure ridge will be over area. It will be hazy as some smoke from the Canadian wildfires will be aloft.

Unseasonably warm Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure continues to dominate our weather, highs both days will be in the 80s but we will continue to see widespread haze.

Not as warm on Thursday despite plenty of sunshine.

A couple of cold fronts will likely give us showers mainly from Friday afternoon through Saturday.

Clearing and much cooler on Sunday with below normal temperatures expected much of next week.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – OCT 2 – Sunny with widespread haze, highs near 80.

TONIGHT – Clear, lows in the upper 50s.

TUESDAY – OCT 3 – Sunny with widespread haze, highs in the low 80s.

WEDNESDAY – OCT 4 – Sunny with widespread haze, highs in the low 80s.

THURSDAY – OCT 5 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 70s.

FRIDAY – OCT 6 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers after 2 p.m., highs in the low 70s, showers likely at night.

SATURDAY – OCT 7 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, highs near 70.

SUNDAY – OCT 8 – Sunny and cooler, highs in the low 60s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect for high seas until 6 p.m. Winds north-northeast becoming southeast to 10 knots, seas 4-6 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Tuesday through Thursday; possible advisories for higher seas on Friday.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR SEPTEMBER 2023

Temperatures averaged 68.5 degrees which is slightly above normal; the highest temperature was 96 degrees set on the 7th which also is the highest temperature of the year. The lowest temperature was 48 set on the 27th. It was very wet with total rainfall amount of 9.00″ which made it the 5th wettest September since I started records in 1973. The highest amount was 2.36″ recorded on the 29th.
