Skies are partly cloudy early on this Friday morning and temperatures are milder than the last couple of morning with readings ranging from 35 in Clifton down to 28 at Pequest. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 71.

Note: Today will have the earliest sunset of the year at 4:30 and 15 seconds p.m. and for the first time since June the sun will set later tomorrow but by only one second at 4:30 and 16 seconds. By Christmas Day the sun will set 5 minutes later and by New Year’s Day about 10 minutes later than today.

Today will be a partly sunny day with light winds and high temperatures about 10 degrees higher than yesterday as high pressure builds from the south.

Despite mostly cloudy skies Saturday will be a couple of degrees higher than today mainly in the low 50s. Winds will again be light.

A storm system will give us strong winds and heavy rain mainly Sunday afternoon through the early part of Monday. It will be mild with a southerly flow. Rainfall amounts will average between 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches. Winds gust of over 40 mph likely with higher amounts over coastal areas.

The storm will move offshore and skies will become mostly sunny by Monday afternoon but it will still be breezy.

High pressure should be in control of our weather the rest of next week with dry conditions and near normal temperatures.

MONDAY – DEC 11 – Chance of showers in the morning then becoming mostly sunny in the afternoon, breezy, highs in the upper 40s.

TUESDAY – DEC 12 – Sunny, highs in the mid 40s.

WEDNESDAY – DEC 13 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 40s.
