Good morning everyone!
Skies are clear early on this Friday morning and temperatures are seasonably cold with readings ranging from 23 in Clifton down to 18 at High Point. Winds are from the northwest around 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 29.
CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR JANUARY 5TH:
AVERAGE HIGH: 37 AVERAGE LOW: 22
RECORD HIGH: 61 – 1993 RECORD LOW: 2 – 1996
YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 44 LOW: 25 PRECIPITATION: TRACE SNOW: TRACE.
The calm before the storm today as high pressure will be over our area giving us sunny skies, light winds and seasonably cold temperatures.
A coastal low pressure storm will give us precipitation from Saturday afternoon, becoming heavy at times at night, before tapering off by Sunday afternoon. The snow/rain line will be near or just east of our area so predicting snowfall amounts will be tricky with mainly rain to our east and mainly snow to our west. My best guess now in Clifton is between 3-6 inches of snow.
Monday will be another quiet day with sunshine, light winds and near seasonable temperatures.
A powerful storm is expected to move to the Great Lakes on Tuesday which will give us rain heavy at times Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday. Also some damaging winds are possible along with river flooding as 2″ of rainfall is expected.
High pressure then builds in for Thursday.
