Snow is falling over the area early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from 31 in Clifton down to 25 at High Point. Winds are from the north around 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 31. At shortly after 5 a.m. about 1-2″ have accumulated.

The coastal storm is located off the North Carolina coast and will move offshore New Jersey by this afternoon. Snow will be heavy at times this morning and should end by noon followed by clearing and breezy conditions this afternoon. Accumulations of 5-9 inches are expected. The sun will melt some of the snow this afternoon but as temperatures fall into the 20s tonight, untreated roads and sidewalks may become icy.
High pressure then builds into the area on Wednesday with cold temperatures and a brisk northwest wind.
Increasing clouds on Thursday, a weak disturbance may touch off some snow showers at night.
Seasonably cold weather should continue Friday through the weekend, another weak disturbance may again touch of some snow showers on Saturday.

SATURDAY – FEB 17 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers, highs in the upper 30s.
SUNDAY – FEB 18 – Mostly sunny, highs near 40.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 6 p.m. for northerly winds gusting to 45 knots, seas 6-9 feet.
