One day more of heat and humidity with showers and thunderstorms expected this afternoon and tonight! Becoming mostly sunny on Thursday with cooler temperatures and much less humidity! Pleasantly warm Friday through the weekend! Seasonably warm early next week with a chance of showers Monday night into Tuesday!

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and once again it is quite warm and muggy with temperatures ranging from 75 in Clifton down to 66 at Walpack. Winds are calm or light west-southwest. The air quality is moderate with an index of 57.

Yesterday’s 99 degrees was the highest temperature since July 24, 2022 when it was also 99 degrees.

One more day of heat and humidity as a cold front approaches our area. Highs today may be a couple of degrees lower than yesterday, but the dew points will rise to the low 70s bringing heat indexes again past 105 degrees. A heat advisory continues in effect. After missing much of the thunderstorm activity the last few days today showers and thunderstorms will be more widespread today and tonight with possible some severe storms. Torrential downpours and strong damaging winds are possible.

The cold front will cross the area early Thursday morning and we should have a mostly sunny day with cooler temperatures with highs only in the 80s. The dew points will also drop to around 60 which will make it feel much more refreshing than the last several days.

Dry and seasonably warm temperatures with comfortable humidity Friday through the weekend as high pressure builds over the area.

The humidity may rise somewhat early next week with a chance of showers Monday night into Tuesday.

THURSDAY – JULY 18 – Mostly sunny, not as hot and much less humid, highs in the upper 80s.

FRIDAY – JULY 19 – Sunny, highs in the upper 80s.

SATURDAY – JULY 20 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – JULY 21 – Mostly sunny, highs near 90.

MONDAY – JULY 22 – Mostly sunny, highs near 90, chance of showers at night.

TUESDAY – JULY 23 – Mostly cloudy and more humid with a chance of showers, highs in the mid 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 2 p.m. this afternoon through 8 a.m. Thursday morning for southwest winds gusting to 25 knots, seas 4-6 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 74 degrees.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected the rest of Thursday through Sunday.
