Mostly cloudy, windy and warm and much more humid today with some heavy showers and thunderstorms likely mainly from late this afternoon through tonight! An extended stretch of very nice summer weather Saturday through much of next week with plenty of sunshine each day, seasonable temperatures and low humidity!

Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and there continues to be some drizzle or light rain showers falling over the area. Temperatures have increased overnight and readings now range from 75 in Clifton down to 64 at High Point. The humidity also has increased with dew points now in the mid 70s. The winds are mainly light from the southeast. The air quality is good with an index of 37.

A warm front has moved to our north this morning; the temperature at midnight was 68 degrees and as of 5 a.m. is now 75 degrees, with dew points also in the oppressive mid 70s. Tropical depression Debby is expected to track through central Pennsylvania and we will have a increasingly strong south-southeast flow of warm and humid air. There is a chance of some showers and thunderstorms through mid-afternoon then a strong line will cross the area this evening. Some heavy downpours are possible along with even a slight chance of a tornado or two.

The cold front associated with Debby will move offshore tonight and Saturday will be a warm day with much less humidity by the afternoon. Skies will be mostly sunny.

What may be the nicest stretch of summer weather this year is expected Sunday through Thursday with plenty of sunshine each day along with pleasantly warm temperatures and humidity.

TONIGHT – Cloudy with showers and thunderstorms, rain may be heavy at times, windy with gusts to 40 mph. Humid, lows in the low 70s.

SATURDAY – AUG 10 – Sunny and becoming much less humid, highs in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 11 – Sunny, highs in the mid 80s.

MONDAY – AUG 12 – Sunny, highs in the low 80s.

TUESDAY – AUG 13 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 80s.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 14 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 80s.

THURSDAY – AUG 15 – Mostly sunny, highs in the mid 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until 2 a.m. Saturday morning for southerly winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 6-9 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 75 degrees.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected from Saturday afternoon through Monday.
