Mostly cloudy and not as warm today with a chance of showers this afternoon and evening! Showers likely Sunday and Monday with possibly some heavy rain in thunderstorms! Still a chance of a shower on Tuesday followed by much cooler and drier air for the rest of next week!

Skies are mostly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and there are some light showers falling over northwestern parts of New Jersey. Temperatures range from 70 in Clifton down to 64 at High Point. The humidity is high with dew points in the upper 60s. The air quality is moderate with an index of 75.

High pressure is moving off the coast as a frontal system approaches from the west. Today will be mostly cloudy with a chance of showers this afternoon and evening.

Showers will become likely on Sunday with a chance some heavy rain in thunderstorms that will extend into Monday.

Still a chance of a shower on Tuesday as another weak secondary front moves through, this front will be followed by cooler and much less humid air Tuesday night through the rest of next week.

TODAY – AUG 17 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers mainly after 2 p.m., humid, highs in the low 80s.

TONIGHT – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers in the evening then showers likely after midnight with a possibly some thunderstorms, humid, lows near 70.

SUNDAY – AUG 18 – Cloudy with showers and possibly some thunderstorms with some heavy rain, humid, highs near 80.

MONDAY – AUG 19 – Showers and possibly some thunderstorms, humid highs in the mid 80s.

TUESDAY – AUG 20 – Partly sunny with a chance of a shower, becoming cooler and much less humid, highs in the mid 70s.

WEDNESDAY – AUG 21 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 70s.

THURSDAY – AUG 22 – Sunny, highs near 80.

FRIDAY – AUG 23 – Sunny, highs in the low 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Monday evening for high seas from distant Hurricane Ernesto. Southerly winds to 20 knots, seas 5-7 feet. Belmar’s ocean temperature is 74 degrees. There also is a high chance of dangerous rip currents.

OUTLOOK: Advisories may still be needed for Monday night; no advisories expected Tuesday and Wednesday.
