Sunny and breezy today with near seasonable temperatures! Dry and cooler Sunday and Monday! Our record dry spell expected to continue the rest of next week with a warming trend. Record warm Halloween likely!

Good morning everyone!

Skies are partly cloudy early on this Saturday morning and temperatures are milder than this time yesterday with readings ranging from 52 in Clifton down to 34 at Walpack. Winds are calm or light southwesterly. The air quality is good with an index of 43.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR OCTOBER 26TH:

AVERAGE HIGH: 60 AVERAGE LOW: 41

RECORD HIGH: 84 – 2023 RECORD LOW 30 – 1987

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 66 LOW: 42 PRECIPITATION: NONE

Today is the 27th straight day without measurable rainfall which is the longest period of dry weather since my records began. The previously longest was in May of 2001 when there were 26 days without rainfall. This record dry spell is expected to continue this weekend through next week, as this October may be the first month without any measurable precipitation.

A cold front will come through dry this morning followed by a brisk northwest flow of dry air, high temperatures will be a little above normal. With the winds and dry conditions there is a chance of brush fires.

High pressure will then build into our area for Sunday and Monday, skies will be mostly sunny each day but temperatures will be slightly cooler than normal.

The dry weather is expected to continue the rest of next week as the high pressure moves slowly offshore and we will have a southwest flow of warmer air. Highs on Wednesday should be well up into the 70s and record highs are likely on Halloween with highs possible rising to the low 80s. Still mild on Friday as a cold front approaches our area.
