Light snow is falling across the area early this morning as winter began at 4:20 a.m. Temperatures range from 28 in Clifton down to 22 at High Point. Winds are from the north averaging 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 33. Around 1 1/2 to 2 inches of snow has accumulated in the Clifton area with somewhat more across the higher elevations.

The low pressure that gave us the snow is moving well offshore as high pressure builds into our area from the Great Lakes. The snow should end around 8 a.m. followed by a brisk northwest flow of very cold air. Highs will only rise to the low 30s and with winds gusting over 30 mph will make it feel colder.
Sunny and very cold on Sunday with highs mainly only in the 20s, wind will be less than today but still it will be rather breezy.
With light winds and clear skies Monday morning’s temperature will fall to near 10 degrees which will make it the coldest reading since December 24, 2022. During the day will be less harsh with highs a couple of degrees higher than Sunday.
A weak cold front may touch off some snow showers on Christmas Eve.
Mainly dry with temperatures rising to near normal Christmas Day through the rest of next week.

TONIGHT – Mostly clear, breezy and cold, lows in the mid teens.
SUNDAY – DEC 22 – Sunny and very cold, highs only in the mid 20s.
MONDAY – DEC 23 – Sunny, highs near 30.
TUESDAY – DEC 24 – Mostly cloudy in the morning with a chance of snow showers, partly sunny in the afternoon, not as cold, highs in the upper 30s.
CHRISTMAS DAY – DEC 25 – Mostly sunny, highs near 40.
THURSDAY – DEC 26 – Mostly sunny, highs near 40.
FRIDAY – DEC 27 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 40s.
MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon for northwest winds gusting to 30 mph, seas 3-6 feet.
OUTLOOK: No advisories are expected Sunday night through Wednesday.
