Skies are cloudy early on this Friday morning and rain has begun over southern New Jersey and is approaching our area. Temperatures range from 32 in Clifton down to 29 at High Point, Wantage and Walpack. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is good with an index of 36.

A low pressure system will be moving into our area today with periods of rain through this evening, some of the precipitation will start off as freezing rain inland. Temperatures will become milder with highs in the 40s. Rainfall amounts will be between 1/4 to 1/2 inch. So far this month only .48″ of precipitation fell, with the record driest being .75″ set in 1981. It will be close if we set a new record.
High pressure will then briefly nose down from eastern Canada on Saturday giving us a mostly sunny and breezy day with near seasonable temperatures.
We should see an increase in clouds on Sunday as a warm front approaches, the front may be accompanied by some light rain or snow at night.
Mainly dry Monday and Tuesday, Monday will be mild with cooler air for Tuesday.
A stronger low pressure system will give us rain or snow on Wednesday changing to all rain on Thursday with milder temperatures.

WEDNESDAY – FEB 5 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain or snow, highs near 40.
THURSDAY – FEB 6 – Mostly cloudy with rain likely mainly in the morning, mild with highs in the low 50s.

OUTLOOK: A small craft advisory has been posted effective between 4 p.m. this afternoon through 6 p.m. Saturday evening; mainly sub-advisory level conditions Sunday through Tuesday.
