Rainy, mild and windy today! Partly sunny on Thursday and becoming very windy at night! Cooler and breezy on Friday! Mainly dry with near seasonable tempertures over the weekend into Monday! Dry and warmer on Tuesday!

Skies are cloudy early on this Wednesday morning and temperatures are mild with readings ranging from 42 in Clifton down to 33 at Basking Ridge. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 60.

A strong low pressure system will give us some well needed rain today. Rain will become heavy at times especially this afternoon and evening. Southerly winds will increase with gusts to near 40 mph. Temperatures will be mild with highs in the 50s. Rainfall amounts will average between 1 and 1 1/2 inches.

Clearing on Thursday and it will be mild in the morning and slightly cooler in the afternoon. Winds will become quite strong Thursday night with some gusts over 45 mph as the low pressure intensifies off the Canadian maritimes.

Friday will still be rather windy but we will have plenty of sunshine and slightly above normal temperatures.

The weekend looks to be mainly dry with near normal temperatures and lighter winds.

At this time our area will remain dry with moderating temperatures Monday through at least the middle of next week.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAR 5 – Cloudy with a chance of showers this morning then rain heavy at times this afternoon with a chance of a thunderstorm. Southerly winds gusting to 38 mph.

TONIGHT – Cloudy with rain heavy at times until 10 p.m. with a chance of a thunderstorm. Temperatures steady in the 50s. Wind gusts to 33 mph. Total rainfall amounts between 1 and 1 1/2 inches.

THURSDAY – MAR 6 – Partly sunny, temperatures in the 50s in the morning then falling to the 40s in the afternoon. Becoming very windy at night with gusts to 47 mph.

FRIDAY – MAR 7 – Sunny and windy, highs near 50, gusts to 38 mph.

SATURDAY – MAR 8 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 40s.

SUNDAY – MAR 9 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 40s.

MONDAY – MAR 10 – Mostly sunny, highs near 50.

TUESDAY – MAR 11 – Sunny, highs in the low 60s.

MARINE FORECAST: A gale warning is in effect until midnight tonight form southerly winds gusting to 40 knots, seas 7-12 feet.

OUTLOOK: Small craft advisory expected during the day with a gale watch from Thursday night until Friday morning; advisories should continue through the day on Friday; no advisories expected from Friday night through Sunday.
