Rain ending this morning then clearing, breezy and cooler by late in the day! Dry and mild Tuesday and Wednesday! More showers likely Thursday afternoon and evening! Mostly sunny, breezy and cooler on Friday! Mainly dry and seasonably mild weather for the weekend!

Rain is falling over much of the area early on this Monday morning and temperatures are unseasonably mild with readings ranging from 54 in Clifton down to 49 at High Point. Winds are calm or light northeasterly. The air quality is good with an index of 44.

The front that is giving us the rain will move offshore and the rain should end by later this morning. Highs in the 50s this morning will fall to the upper 40s by sunset. Skies will clear by this evening and it will be a little breezy with gusts to 25 mph.

Dry weather for Tuesday and Wednesday along with above normal temperatures.

Another frontal system will likely give us rain mainly Thursday afternoon and night.

Friday will be cooler and quite windy as the cyclonic flow off the low pressure that will be moving off the Maine coast.

At this point the weather for this upcoming weekend looks dry with again above normal temperatures.

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – MAR 17 – Showers ending this morning but remaining cloudy, early highs in the upper 50s will fall to the upper 40s by sunset. Wind gusts to 25 mph this afternoon.

TONIGHT – Clearing and breezy, lows in the mid 30s, winds gusting to 25 mph.

TUESDAY – MAR 18 – Sunny, highs in the low 60s.

WEDNESDAY – MAR 19 – Mostly sunny, highs in the low 60s.

THURSDAY – MAR 20 – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers in the afternoon, highs in the low 60s, showers likely at night.

FRIDAY – MAR 21 – Chance of a morning shower then becoming partly sunny, windy and cooler, highs near 50.

SATURDAY – MAR 22 – Mostly sunny, highs in the upper 50s.

SUNDAY – MAR 23 – Mostly sunny, highs near 60.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory will be in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday evening for northwest winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 7-10 feet.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Tuesday night through Wednesday night; advisories likely on Thursday; gales possible Thursday night; gales likely for Friday.
