Becoming mostly sunny and continued mild today! Dry and mild on Monday! Very mild Tuesday and Wednesday with some record highs possible! Cooler towards the end of the week with even a slight chance of some snow flurries on Friday!

Good morning everyone and Happy 2023!

Skies are mainly cloudy early on this New Year’s Day and it continues to be unseasonably mild with early readings ranging from 48 in Clifton down to 39 at Basking Ridge. Winds are mainly calm and there is still some dense fog in some areas.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR JANUARY 1ST:

AVERAGE HIGH: 38 AVERAGE LOW: 21

RECORD HIGH: 59 – 2005 RECORD LOW: 3 – 2018

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 51 LOW: 44 PRECIPITATION: .35″

The disturbance that gave us the rain and foggy weather yesterday is moving offshore as high pressure builds in from the west. Drier air moving in will help dissipate any fog this morning and we should have mostly sunny skies, a little breezy but with continued mild temperatures.

Monday will continue to be dry and mild with high pressure over our area.

A frontal system will give us a good chance of showers mainly Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday but it will be unseasonably mild with highs close to 60 on Tuesday and well up into the 60s on Wednesday with some record highs possible. A cold front will come through Wednesday night.

Cooler on Thursday but with still slightly above normal temperatures.

There is a slight chance of some snow flurries on Friday as a weak coastal storm develops but at this time it looks to be too far off shore to cause any measurable snowfall. Temperatures will cool to near normal.
