The storm system that gave us rain and some snow yesterday is moving well off the New England coast as high pressure builds in from the west. Today will be a breezy day with partly sunny skies and seasonably mild temperatures with highs in the 40s.
A rather potent storm system will give us precipitation from late Wednesday morning ending before sunrise on Thursday. The precipitation may start off as a burst of snow before changing to rain, snow accumulations of 1-2″ are possible before the changeover. Temperatures will rise into the 40s by late in the day which will wash all the snow away. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 1 1/2″ likely.
As the storm system moves away from us we will dry out on Thursday but it will be windy with possible gusts to 40 mph. Early highs in the 40s will drop to the 30s by sunset.
Mainly dry weather with continued above normal temperatures Friday through most of the weekend. A weak frontal system may touch off some rain showers Sunday night.

THURSDAY – JAN 26 – Partly sunny and windy, early highs in the 40s dropping to the 30s by sunset. Winds gusting to 40 mph.
FRIDAY – JAN 27 – Mostly sunny, high near 40.
SATURDAY – JAN 28 – Mostly sunny, high in the upper 40s.
SUNDAY – JAN 29 – Mostly cloudy, high in the upper 40s, chance of light rain at night.
MONDAY – JAN 30 – Mostly cloudy, high in the mid 40s.
MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect until 4 p.m. this afternoon for westerly winds gusting to 30 knots, seas 4-7 feet.
OUTLOOK: A gale watch has been posted effective between Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon; advisories still possible on Friday; no advisories expected for Saturday.
