Another nice early July day with near normal temperatures, low humidity, lighter winds and plenty of sunshine! Sunny and continued pleasantly warm on Wednesday! Warmer and more humid on Independence Day with a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms! Continued warm and humid Friday through early next week with possible showers Friday and Saturday and again on Monday!

Skies are mainly clear early on this Tuesday morning and temperatures range from 64 in Clifton down to 50 at Walpack. Winds are calm or light northerly. The air quality is good with an index of 29.

High pressure over us today will give us plenty of sunshine, lighter winds than yesterday with near normal temperatures and continued low humidity.

The high pressure will move slowly offshore on Wednesday and the weather will still be pleasantly warm.

As the high moves further offshore a southerly flow of warmer and more humid air will move into out area on Independence Day and these summertime conditions will continue through at least early next week. There is a chance of mainly afternoon and evening showers Thursday through Saturday. Sunday should be dry but another chance of showers for Monday as a weak front will be in our area.

FRIDAY – JULY 5 – Mostly cloudy and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, highs in the upper 80s.

SATURDAY – JULY 6 – Mostly cloudy and humid with showers and thunderstorms becoming likely, highs in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – JULY 7 – Partly sunny and humid, highs in the low 90s.

MONDAY – JULY 8 – Partly sunny and humid with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, highs near 90.

OUTLOOK: No advisories expected Wednesday through Saturday.

HURRICANE BERYL: Beryl is now up to an amazing 165 mph and is the earliest Category 5 on record. The storm caused major damage across the Windward Islands and now is headed for Jamaica hopefully becoming less intense.

CLIFTON’S SUMMARY FOR JUNE 2024: RECORDS GO BACK TO 1973.

“WARMEST JUNE ON RECORD”

June averaged 74.9 degrees which was 4.9 degrees above normal. The highest temperature was 98 set on the 21st. The lowest was 57 set on the 1st and again on the 11th. This 57 degree low was the highest June minimum temperature on record. Precipitation was below normal with 3.36″. Also this June and the least amount of overcast skies.
