Abrupt end to our summer preview; Freeze warning for tonight!


Unseasonably mild temperatures again early this morning with most readings in the low 60s.  Some scattered showers are in the area.

A very strong cold front will be crossing the area later this afternoon preceded by mild temperatures and heavy showers and some isolated thunderstorms, strong gusty southerly winds gusting to 30 mph are likely. Temperatures will remain mild climbing to the upper 60s.

After the front passes winds will switch to the north bringing down much colder air, showers heavy at times will persist along with wind gusts up to 35 mph.  The precipitation may briefly change to snow before ending during the early morning hours on Wednesday, no accumulations are expected.  A freeze warning is in effect for tonight so it would be a good idea to cover or bring in tender plants and vegetables.  Lows by morning will fall to around 30 in the Clifton area to 20s further inland which is more than 30 degrees colder than this morning. Total rain amounts will be around 1.5 inches.

It will clear out on Wednesday with diminishing winds, highs will only be in the low 50s.

Dry and cool weather will continue Thursday into most of the day on Friday.

The next chance of rain will be Friday night into Saturday, temperatures will only slowly moderate.

At this point it will be a very pleasant Easter Sunday with dry conditions and seasonable temperatures with highs in the lower 60s.

Continued dry with seasonable temperatures on Monday.

 

The forecast: Today – Showers with isolated thunderstorms, rain may be heavy at times, windy with highs in the upper 60s.

Tonight – Showers, heavy at times possibly changing to snow before ending, windy and much colder, low around 30.

Wednesday – Sunny, high in the low 50s.

Thursday – Sunny, high in the low-mid 50s.

Friday – Partly sunny, high in the upper 50s, chance of showers at night.

Saturday – Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers, high in the upper 50s.

Easter Sunday – Mostly sunny, high in the low 60s.

Monday – Partly sunny, high in the low 60s.

 

Marine Forecast:  Today – Small craft advisory in effect for southerly winds to 25 knots, seas 7-10 feet.

Gale warning will be in effect from this evening into Wednesday morning.

Outlook –  Conditions lowering to below advisory levels Wednesday night but advisories for high seas likely Thursday into Friday.
