Very windy and frigid today; Coldest night of the season tonight; Snow probable on Tuesday!


It is cloudy with a few flurries falling, temperatures have fallen to 10 degrees and with winds gusting to around 30 mph has caused the wind chills to drop well below zero.  We picked up only an inch of snow while areas across Central New Jersey picked up more than 6 inches.

Today will be a very windy day with some gusts up to 55 mph mainly this morning but only slowly diminishing through the afternoon into tonight, temperatures will not rise much if at all with highs only in the mid teens.

The coldest night of the season tonight with temperatures falling below zero in many places,  wind chill values down to -25 degrees.

Monday will be a sunny day with less wind and highs in the low 20s.

Snow is likely on Tuesday mainly falling from 3 a.m. till 3 p.m. possible accumulations of 2-5 inches, temperatures will still be very cold.

Still another chance of snow on Wednesday as another low pressure is expected to form off the Virginia coast.

Frigid again Thursday and Friday with temperatures as or even colder than Monday morning.

Guess we couldn’t bring warm air up from Grenada as temperatures should remain below freezing till maybe Sunday.

 

THE FORECAST:

TODAY – Some light snow or flurries this morning with no accumulation, very windy with gusts to 55 mph, partly sunny this afternoon, highs only in the middle teens.

TONIGHT – Partly cloudy, low around  one below zero. winds slowly diminishing.

WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY – Mostly sunny with less wind, high in the low 20s.

TUESDAY – Snow likely mainly between 3 a.m. till 3 p.m., high in the mid 20s.

WEDNESDAY – Cloudy with a chance of snow, high in the upper 20s.

THURSDAY – Mostly sunny and frigid, high in the upper teens.

FRIDAY – Mostly sunny and very cold, high around 20.

SATURDAY – Mostly cloudy and not as cold, high around 30.

 

MARINE FORECAST:   Storm warning in effect for northwest winds to 55 knots, seas 7-10 feet, heavy freezing spray.

OUTLOOK – Small craft advisories Monday morning with no advisories expected Monday afternoon and night, small craft advisories probable on Tuesday with gales Wednesday and Thursday.
