The temperature here in Clifton at 6 a.m. has dropped down to zero, this is the sixth record low here in the last nine days since I began my records in 1973. Many temperatures are well below zero in the area with -17 degrees reported in Walpack, NJ. Winds are nearly calm and the skies are clear.
Today will be a mostly sunny day but temperatures will only reach around 20 degrees despite the increased late February sun angle. Tonight will not be as frigid as lows should occur this evening and may rise somewhat toward tomorrow morning, temperatures this time tomorrow may be more than 20 degrees warmer than now.
Tomorrow will be mostly sunny and not quite as frigid as highs reach the 30s.
Another Arctic surge of cold air will be with us to close the week, it should not be as extreme as the last few cold blasts but still well below normal for the last few days of February.
The weekend will be mainly dry with a slight moderation in temperatures.
The next chance of significant precipitation will be next Monday and at this time it appears that we should start off as snow and then chance to rain as temperatures reach the low 40s.
