Sunny and cold but with less wind today! Mainly dry and milder on Friday! Unseasonably warm with showers over the weekend!

Good morning!

Skies are clear early on this Thursday morning and temperatures are the lowest of 2020 so far with readings ranging from the low 20s in Clifton down to 13 degrees at High Point. These colder temperatures are actually normal for this time of year. Winds are still a little gusty out of the northwest.

CLIFTON’S ALMANAC FOR JANUARY 9TH:

RECORD HIGH: 65 – 2008 RECORD LOW: 3 – 2004

YESTERDAY’S HIGH: 42 LOW: 26 PRECIPITATION: TRACE SNOWFALL: TRACE.

A strong high pressure is building into our area today which will give us sunny and cold conditions today but with much less wind than yesterday, highs will be in the 30s which is near seasonable levels.

A warm front will cross the area on Friday and a southwesterly flow of milder air will move into our area, most of the day will be mostly cloudy with a slight chance of some drizzle at night.

Near record warmth is expected this weekend as high pressure will be to our east and a slow moving cold front approaches from the west. It now looks like most of Saturday will be dry except for some drizzle, with most of the showers falling late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Temperatures both days will be in the 60s with an outside chance of 70 degree reading in parts of the area on Sunday.

Mainly dry early next week, temperatures will be cooler but remain above normal.

A change in the pattern is likely toward the end of next week which will finally bring in some colder temperatures.
