Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning. The temperature in Clifton has fallen to 62 degrees which is the coolest reading here since June 17th. Inland temperatures are in the mid 50s with some fog. Winds are mainly calm or light northwest.

After yesterday’s cool day today will be warmer with highs in the low 80s which is near seasonable levels. Skies will be mostly sunny. A cold front will likely give us some showers and thunderstorms around 7-8 p.m. this evening.

High pressure will dominate our weather much of the rest of this week with dry conditions. Temperatures will be at or slightly below normal Tuesday through Thursday and rise to slightly above normal readings Friday through the weekend. The only chance of showers will be around Sunday with a cold front.

No excessive heat is expected here but in some of the western states are having record heat with some places having their hottest August temperatures.

TUESDAY – AUG 18 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 80s.

THURSDAY – AUG 20 – Mostly sunny, high in the low 80s.

FRIDAY – AUG 21 – Mostly sunny, high in the mid 80s.

SATURDAY – AUG 22 – Partly sunny, high in the upper 80s.

SUNDAY – AUG 23 – Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, high in the mid 80s.

MARINE FORECAST: A small craft advisory is in effect for high seas until 6 p.m. this evening, winds northerly this morning becoming southeast with gusts to 20 knots, seas 5-7 feet this morning lowering to 4-6 feet this afternoon. Point Pleasant Beach’s ocean temperature is 74 degrees.

OUTLOOK – No advisories expected Tuesday through Friday.
