Skies are mostly clear early on this Monday morning and there is some patchy fog in some areas. Temperatures range from 71 in Clifton down to 62 at Sandyston. The humidity is high and the winds are mainly calm. The air quality is moderate with an index of 52.

Weak high pressure will be over us today giving us a mostly sunny and hot day with highs in the 90s, the humidity may drop this afternoon with dew points mainly in the mid-upper 60s. Today may be the last day in the 90s for awhile.

A cold front will approach our area and then move to our south on Tuesday. Showers and thunderstorms will become likely with rain possibly heavy at times mainly from late in the afternoon through Wednesday morning.

Unsettled weather Wednesday through the weekend as a front will be to our south and we will have a cool onshore wind. Most highs will only be in the 70s. Showers are possible each day. The remains of Hurricane Debby may move up the coast which would give us heavy rain Friday and Saturday.

The heavy rains mainly bypassed our area yesterday with less than 1/10 of an inch of rain while some nearby places received over 3 inches. Today will be another humid day, but with more clouds highs will only reach the 80s. Showers and thunderstorms will again become likely late this afternoon and early evening as a weak front dissipates over our area.

A weak area of high pressure will give us a sunny day tomorrow with highs back up into the 90s, dew points will drop into the 60s in the afternoon.

A cold front will likely give us showers and thunderstorms on Tuesday and again with more clouds highs will only be in the 80s.

Cooler but unsettled weather Wednesday through the weekend as a front will be to our south and we may have to deal with moisture from Tropical Storm Debbie as it moves slowly up the east coast. It will be humid during this period but not as oppressive as our last few days.

A weak front in our area will give us partly sunny skies today and it will be hot and humid again with heat indexes near or above 100 degrees. A heat advisory is in effect. Also some strong thunderstorms are possible mainly from late this afternoon into this evening.

Sunday will be less hot with more clouds but it will remain humid with showers and thunderstorms likely.

Drier air for Monday and it will be mostly sunny but hot.

Another front just to our south will likely give us more showers Tuesday into Wednesday.

Another hot and humid day today, temperatures may be a couple of degrees lower than yesterday but the humidity will remain high with dew points in the 70s which will cause heat indexes to rise to 100 degrees or more. A heat advisory is in effect. Showers and thunderstorms are likely mainly after 5 p.m. as high pressure moves off the coast and a trough moves into the area.

The trough of low pressure will be over our area on the weekend with continued high humidity and showers and thunderstorms likely both days. Saturday’s high temperature will again be in the 90s but should only be in the 80s on Sunday with more cloud cover.

Monday looks to be dry and hot as weak high pressure moves into our area.

Another slow moving front will give us a chance of showers Tuesday through Thursday but temperatures should be cooler with most highs in the 80s.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR JULY 2024:

Temperatures this July averaged 79.3 degrees which was 4.1 degrees above normal and was the 3rd warmest July since my records began in 1973. The highest temperature was 99 degrees on the 16th with the lowest 61 which was recorded on the 1st. Precipitation in Clifton was only 2.36″ as most of the storms during the month bypassed our area, this was the driest July since 2002.

A warm front will move across the area Friday morning bringing in more humid air, high temperatures will be a little lower mainly in the low 90s but with dew points rising to the 70s will cause heat indexes to rise to above 100 degrees. Also there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms.

A couple of fronts will cause unsettled weather over the weekend and with more clouds high temperatures will be lower. Showers and possibly some thunderstorms are likely both Saturday and Sunday.

Monday will be less humid but still quite warm as high pressure builds into the area.
