We will see an increase in clouds this morning with rain developing around 4 p.m. and ending near midnight as a weak low pressure system moves through the area. Rainfall amount will average around 1/2″

Weak high pressure will give us a dry day on Thursday with near seasonable temperatures.

A disturbance moving from the west along with low pressure well offshore will give us a chance of snow showers on Friday that my produce a dusting of snow.

Much colder but dry over the weekend with possibly the coldest air of the season so far Sunday into early next week.

Skies are cloudy early on this Tuesday morning and much of the rain and drizzle has moved offshore. It is quite mild with temperatures ranging from 48 in Clifton down to 39 at Walpack. Winds are from the southwest around 5-10 mph. The air quality is good with an index of 19.

A cold front will cross the area around noon and we will have clearing after early morning clouds, it will be mild with highs well up into the 50s. Winds will be a little brisk out of the west.

Another disturbance will give us more rain Wednesday afternoon and evening, rainfall amounts will average between 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

High pressure will then build into our area for Thursday with mostly sunny skies and seasonable temperatures.

An offshore low pressure may touch off some light snow on Friday.

Dry but much colder this weekend as an Arctic high pressure builds toward our area. We may have the coldest air of the season so far.

Another weak frontal system will likely give us more rain tonight into early Tuesday morning, temperatures overnight will actually rise into the low 50s. Clearing by the afternoon.

Still another weak disturbance will likely give us more light rain Wednesday afternoon and night.

Thursday looks to be dry and cooler.

Yesterday morning the barometric pressure reached a high of 30.97″ which was the highest pressure recorded in December since my records began in 1973. It was also the second highest pressure overall, February 1981 had the highest pressure with 31.08″

The very strong high pressure will be moving off the New England coast today as a weak disturbance approaches our area from the west. We should see an increase in clouds during the day today, high temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than yesterday but still be below normal. The disturbance will cause rain develop after midnight tonight possibly beginning as snow or freezing rain further inland.

Periods of light rain on Monday with milder temperatures during the day. Another disturbance will cause more rain Monday night into Tuesday morning followed by clearing and quite mild in the afternoon with highs well up into the 50s.

Slightly cooler on Wednesday and another weak disturbance may give us more rain Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday morning.

Colder Friday into next weekend and still another disturbance may give us some light snow Friday night.

Skies are clear early on this Saturday morning and temperatures here in Clifton have fallen to the coldest since February 25th with a reading of 19 degrees. Inland it is colder with a chilly temperature of 6 degrees at Walpack. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is good with an index of 27. The barometric pressure has risen to 30.89″ which tied the highest pressure for the month of December and is the highest pressure here since 1996. The overall highest pressure was 31.08″ set back in February 1981.

The strong high pressure will be over our area today providing plenty of sunshine with continued cold temperatures with light winds.

As the high moves off the New England coast on Sunday we should have an increase in clouds during the day, temperatures will continue to be seasonably cold.

A weakening low pressure system will likely give us rain Monday into Tuesday. The rain may start off as a mixture of snow and freezing rain inland early Monday morning, then change to rain as milder air moves into the area. Tuesday will be quite mild with highs well up into the 50s.

Weak high pressure will give us a nice mild day on Wednesday along with mostly sunny skies.

Chances of precipitation increase for Thursday and Friday with a possible coastal storm.
