The temperatures are milder than the last few morning with readings ranging from 34 in Clifton down to 28 at High Point. Winds are light mainly from the northeast. The air quality is moderate with an index of 52.

A weak disturbance will give us periods of rain mainly this morning. This afternoon skies will remain cloudy with milder temperatures. Another weak frontal system will likely give us more rain tonight into early Tuesday morning, temperatures overnight will actually rise into the low 50s. Clearing by the afternoon.

Still another weak disturbance will likely give us more light rain Wednesday afternoon and night.

Thursday looks to be dry and cooler.

Much cooler weather is expected Friday into the weekend with a low chance of snow on Friday.

Yesterday morning the barometric pressure reached a high of 30.97″ which was the highest pressure recorded in December since my records began in 1973. It was also the second highest pressure overall, February 1981 had the highest pressure with 31.08″

The very strong high pressure will be moving off the New England coast today as a weak disturbance approaches our area from the west. We should see an increase in clouds during the day today, high temperatures will be a couple of degrees higher than yesterday but still be below normal. The disturbance will cause rain develop after midnight tonight possibly beginning as snow or freezing rain further inland.

Periods of light rain on Monday with milder temperatures during the day. Another disturbance will cause more rain Monday night into Tuesday morning followed by clearing and quite mild in the afternoon with highs well up into the 50s.

Slightly cooler on Wednesday and another weak disturbance may give us more rain Wednesday afternoon into early Thursday morning.

Colder Friday into next weekend and still another disturbance may give us some light snow Friday night.

Skies are clear early on this Saturday morning and temperatures here in Clifton have fallen to the coldest since February 25th with a reading of 19 degrees. Inland it is colder with a chilly temperature of 6 degrees at Walpack. Winds are mainly calm. The air quality is good with an index of 27. The barometric pressure has risen to 30.89″ which tied the highest pressure for the month of December and is the highest pressure here since 1996. The overall highest pressure was 31.08″ set back in February 1981.

The strong high pressure will be over our area today providing plenty of sunshine with continued cold temperatures with light winds.

As the high moves off the New England coast on Sunday we should have an increase in clouds during the day, temperatures will continue to be seasonably cold.

A weakening low pressure system will likely give us rain Monday into Tuesday. The rain may start off as a mixture of snow and freezing rain inland early Monday morning, then change to rain as milder air moves into the area. Tuesday will be quite mild with highs well up into the 50s.

Weak high pressure will give us a nice mild day on Wednesday along with mostly sunny skies.

Chances of precipitation increase for Thursday and Friday with a possible coastal storm.

A very strong high pressure will continue to build over our area today providing plenty of sunshine but with continued cold temperatures. Winds will be lighter than yesterday.

A dry weekend is expected with temperatures continuing below normal as the strong high moves slowly off the New England coast. There should be plenty of sunshine on Saturday, but we will have an increase in clouds on Sunday.

A weak frontal system will give us rain Monday into Tuesday morning, the rain may begin as snow early Monday morning.

A weak high pressure will then move into the area on Wednesday with mostly sunny skies and seasonably mild temperatures.

Another disturbance may cause some rain on Thursday which again may start off as snow.

Note: 64 years ago today our area received nearly two feet of snow, it is the earliest snowstorm I remember, I especially liked the three days off from school.

Yesterday’s storm was not as bad as forecasted, as we had less rain and wind here as most of the winds and precipitation was to our east.

Today will be a colder and windy day as low pressure moves through eastern Canada while an Arctic high pressure builds from the northern plain states. Skies will be mostly sunny with some wind gusts to 35 mph.

Dry and cold weather is expected to continue Friday and Saturday but with less wind as the strong high pressure moves over our area.

Not quite as cold on Sunday but with more clouds.

Mild but with rain likely Monday into Tuesday as a weak frontal system moves into our area.

Clearing and a little cooler on Wednesday.
