High pressure well offshore and a warm front approaching from the southwest will give us a partly sunny day after early morning low clouds. Temperatures will be warm with highs in the 80s with rather high humidity with dew points in the 60s.

Showers with possibly some thunderstorms should occur from late tonight through Thursday afternoon as a warm front moves to our north in the morning, followed by a cold front moving through by Thursday evening. Rainfall amounts will average between 1/2 to 1 inch with high amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday will be a mostly sunny day with warm temperatures and less humidity.

Unsettled weather for the weekend through early next week as an upper level low will be near our area. Although much of the area will remain dry there is a chance of mainly afternoon showers especially Sunday and again on Monday. Temperatures and humidity will be near seasonable levels.

High pressure building from the New England coast will give us a light onshore flow. Temperatures will once again reach the 80s but will be cooler near the shore.

A frontal system will approach the area on Wednesday, most of the day will be dry but there will be a chance of showers in the afternoon. Showers will become more widespread at night.

A warm front will pass through the area on Thursday with showers and thunderstorms continuing with some heavy rain possible. High temperatures should be in the 80s with dew points in the upper 60s.

An upper level low will be over the northeast Friday through the beginning of next week, Although most of the time it will be dry, there will be a chance of showers mainly in the afternoon each day. Temperatures will be seasonable and the humidity will drop somewhat.

A weak area of high pressure will give us dry conditions Tuesday through the day on Wednesday, temperatures will be warm again on Tuesday but somewhat lower on Wednesday with an onshore wind.

CLIFTON’S CLIMATE SUMMARY FOR MAY 2024 – RECORD GO BACK TO 1973!

May’s temperature averaged 65.0 degrees which was 3.5 degrees above normal and was the 7th warmest May. The highest temperature was 89 set on the 21st, the lowest was 44 recorded on the 11th. Rainfall totaled 4.52″ which is just about normal, although it seemed wetter since we had 19 days of the month with at least a trace of rain.

CLIMATE FOR METEOROGICAL SPRING 2024:

Temperatures averaged more than 3 degrees above normal and was the 4th warmest spring. Precipitation totaled 18.24″ which also was above normal.

High pressure over our area today will give us mostly sunny skies along with warm temperatures and very low humidity with dew points only in the 40s.

Continued warm but the humidity will be a little higher on Sunday, but still comfortable as dew points will be in the 50s. We should see an increase in clouds at night with a chance of showers late at night as a weak disturbance moves through the area.

Dry and seasonably mild Monday through the day on Wednesday as a weak high pressure will be in our area.
